Position Overview

The Digital & Creative Communications Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping AHFID’s brand presence, voice, and digital influence. This individual will develop, implement, and manage innovative communication strategies that elevate the organization’s visibility, showcase its impact, and engage stakeholders. Working closely with the Executive Office and Senior Director for Technical Influence & Strategy, the officer will ensure that AHFID’s message resonates across all digital platforms and aligns with the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Content Creation and Management

1. Develop and execute comprehensive digital communication strategies to enhance AHFID’s online presence and brand identity.

2. Design, produce, and manage high-quality digital content, including blog posts, social media updates, videos, infographics, and newsletters.

3. Collaborate with internal teams to source content that highlights organizational impact, projects, and events.

4. Write and edit engaging, clear, and impactful communication materials tailored to diverse audiences.

Social Media & Digital Engagement

1. Manage and grow AHFID’s social media platforms, ensuring consistent brand messaging and voice.

2. Monitor and analyze digital performance metrics to inform strategy and optimize engagement.

3. Identify and leverage emerging digital trends and tools to strengthen AHFID’s online presence.

Creative Design and Branding

1. Ensure the consistent application of AHFID’s brand guidelines across all communication materials.

2. Design visually appealing graphics, presentations, and publications using tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.

3. Work closely with external vendors or agencies for specialized design or content production needs.

Communications Support

1. Support the development of speeches, talking points, and presentations for the Executive Office and Senior Leadership Team.

2. Assist in curating and disseminating press releases, media kits, and other outreach materials.

3. Maintain a digital archive of all communication and branding assets.

Stakeholder Engagement and Influence

1. Collaborate with the technical teams to craft narratives that communicate the impact of AHFID’s work to stakeholders, including donors and partners.

2. Develop strategies to engage and grow online audiences, including donors, development partners, and the general public.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

1. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and make recommendations for improvement.

2. Prepare periodic digital performance reports, highlighting successes, challenges, and actionable insights.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

• 3-5 years of experience in digital communications, social media management, or creative content development, preferably within the social or development sector.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and video editing software.

• Strong knowledge of social media platforms, digital analytics tools, and content management systems.

• Experience with email marketing platforms and website management tools.

Competencies

• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

• Creative thinking with a strong eye for detail and design.

• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Work Environment

• Hybrid working model: 2-3 days in-office work per week.

• Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours during critical projects or events.
