Position Overview
The Product Associate Intern will play a key role in supporting the development, management, and scale-up of AHFID’s AI and digital products. This entry-level role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product management, from conceptualization and development to marketing and market launch. The Product Associate will work closely with the Technical Specialist – Strategy, Research & Innovation, program teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure products meet user needs, are effectively launched, and achieve scale.
This is a hybrid role suitable for early-career professionals with some exposure to product management, digital technology, or AI-driven tools, who are eager to grow their skills in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development Support
● Assist in the end-to-end management of AHFID’s AI and digital product portfolio,
ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
● Support the Technical Specialist in defining product requirements, user stories, and
functional specifications.
● Collaborate with technical teams (developers, designers, data scientists) to translate
product concepts into functional prototypes.
● Contribute to product testing, quality assurance, and feedback collection to ensure
usability and effectiveness. - Market Research & User Insights
● Conduct research on target users, competitors, and market trends to inform product
design and positioning.
● Support the development of user personas, journey maps, and insights that guide
product decisions.
● Collect and analyze feedback from pilot users to inform product iteration and
improvement. - Go-to-Market & Launch Support
● Assist in planning and executing product launch strategies, including marketing
campaigns, user onboarding, and engagement initiatives.
● Collaborate with the communications and marketing team to produce promotional
materials, product demos, and training guides.
● Support metrics tracking to evaluate the success of product launches and adoption
rates. - Product Scaling & Optimization
● Monitor key product performance indicators (KPIs) and generate regular reports to
inform strategy.
● Support iterative improvements and feature updates based on data-driven insights.
● Assist in scaling successful pilot products across regions or target segments. - Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Work closely with research, program, and technical teams to ensure product solutions
address real-world challenges.
● Participate in internal strategy sessions, providing input on innovation, product
enhancements, and market trends.
● Support documentation of product processes, workflows, and knowledge management. - Administrative & Operational Support
● Assist in organizing product sprints, meetings, and workshops.
● Support budget tracking, resource planning, and vendor coordination related to product
initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or final-year student) in Business, Computer Science,
Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Public Health, or related fields.
● Some experience or exposure to product management, preferably with digital, tech, or
AI-enabled products.
● Demonstrated understanding of product lifecycle management, from ideation to launch
and scaling.
● Exposure to AI, machine learning, or digital tools is a strong plus.
Technical & Professional Skills
● Familiarity with product management frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and tools (e.g.,
Jira, Trello, Asana).
● Basic understanding of user experience (UX) design and product prototyping.
● Analytical skills, including data collection, reporting, and insights generation.
● Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
● Ability to translate technical information into clear documentation and communication.
